Alanis Maurice reveals: "At the age of 15 I was gang-raped, it took me years to digest that I was a victim"

The Canadian musician tells in a new documentary called "Jagged" that she was raped by 15 men.

"It took me years of treatment to realize I was a victim of rape. I always thought I agreed to have sex, but then I realized they were 15 people and no one agreed to sleep with 15 people."

Canadian musician Alanis Morissette reveals in a new documentary that at the age of 15 she was gang-raped.

In the film, called "Jagged", Maurice (47) reveals that it took her many years of psychological treatment to admit to herself that she was a victim of rape.

"I always told myself I agreed to have sex, but then I remembered 'hey, you were 15 men. No one agrees to 15 men. Now I say to myself' yes, they are all pedophiles and it was gang rape. '"

The age of consent in Canada today is 16 however when Morrist was a girl he stood at 14. Morrist did not name the names of those who allegedly sexually abused her, but made it clear that people in the industry had rejected all of her claims in the past.

"I told some people but it fell on deaf ears," she said.

Maurice is not expected to attend the film's premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, apparently due to disagreements with its creators.

The film focuses on the Canadian musician Jagged Little Pill's masterpiece album released in 1995 and the ensuing tour.

The album is considered Maurice's most successful and to date it has sold about 33 million copies worldwide
