The VMA, MTV's Music Awards, was held tonight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, hosted by rapper and singer Doge Cut.

For the first time in the history of the ceremony, the presenter was even nominated in the Clip of the Year category.

In contrast to last year’s event, which was devoid of crowds due to Corona’s limitations, this time the ceremony was held in front of fans who were present in the hall.

The figurines handed out this year have been redesigned in honor of the music network's 40th anniversary celebrations - Moon Person, the character of the astronaut walking on the moon from MTV's classic transitions.

In the same spirit of four-decade celebrations, Madonna, who made her first steps in music with the help of the music channel, provided a surprise opening show.

Madonna and the VMA go hand in hand - from the first ceremony in 1984 where she performed "Like a Virgin" while crawling on the floor in a white wedding dress, through the same kiss with Britney and Christina in 2003, to the present day.

In addition to Madonna, there were Doge Kat herself, Casey Masgrave, Camila Cabio, BTS, Ed Sheeran, Poe Fighters, and tonight's big winners - Lil Naz X, Justin Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo. The proximity of the ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the twin disaster has not gone unnoticed by the organizers: Alicia Keys performed her new single, "LaLa" and the huge hit "Empire State of Mind", against the backdrop of Manhattan's night skyline.

Lil Naz X won the grand prize - clip of the year. The rapper, one of the few gays out of the closet in the genre, and certainly one of the most successful of them, shouted in his winning speech: "First of all I want to thank the gay agenda. Let's make a gay agenda!". The rapper also won an award for directing the clip "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)", along with Tano Moino.

Apart from him, Justin Bieber took the Artist of the Year award and the Pop Award of the Year for "Peaches," in which he hosts Daniel Caesar and Gibbon.

Olivia Rodrigo won the Song of the Year award for "Drivers License" in the Best New Artist Award and the Performance of the Year Award.
