The accident occurred Monday evening in Montpellier (Hérault).
At around 9:30 p.m., an 8-year-old boy was hit on Lejzer Zamenhof street by a line 3 tram, reports the local daily Midi Libre on Tuesday.
The victim was taken to hospital in serious condition.

The adult crossed the tracks first and his son followed him without seeing that the streetcar was coming.
The driver could not avoid him and hit him in the head, continues the local radio, adding that the victim was not wearing a helmet.

The boy was in cardiopulmonary arrest when help arrived.

The child was evacuated to the CHU Lapyeronie in a very serious condition, notes Midi libre.
He was then transferred overnight to the intensive care unit at Arnaud de Villeneuve hospital.
