The first

civilian-only space mission

, a charitable and scientific initiative launched by

billionaire

businessman

and 38-year-old pilot Jared Isaacman

, is set to begin its three-day trip aboard a company ship from Florida this Wednesday. SpaceX.

Passionate about aviation, Isaacman hired SpaceX, Elon Musk's company, to make a personal dream come true and vindicate the role of

"common people"

in the space adventure: the mission called

Inspiration4

.

The mission pilot and businessman selected his fellow travelers through a contest and intends to raise

$ 200 million

with the mission

for the free treatment of children with cancer.

But who are these "common people"?

On one side is Hayley Arceneaux, a pediatric cancer survivor, a 29-year-old medical assistant.

She will be the youngest American woman to enter orbit and the first person with a (femur) prosthesis to do so.

There will also be Chris Sembroski, 42, a former US Air Force officer who now works in the aviation industry.

He is entitled to the seat of

"generosity"

as he rises as a former veteran who served in Iraq and now works in the aviation industry for the Lockheed Martin company.

He was chosen after making a donation to St. Jude Hospital.

Its tasks will be to help

manage the cargo on board

and the communications with the Earth.

Last place goes to Sian Proctor, a 51-year-old science teacher who in 2009 narrowly missed the chance to become an astronaut at NASA, where her father worked during the Apollo missions.

He participated in Hawaii's simulation experiment of life on Mars.

She will be the mission pilot, assisting the commander.

Represents "prosperity"

by creating an online store linked to space.

She will be the fourth African-American woman to travel into space.

The price it paid to SpaceX was not disclosed, but presumably in the tens of millions of dollars.

He will be the commander on board and offered

another three places to strangers.

How and where will the mission be

The crew trained for six months.

Takeoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time, with a five-hour launch window and, for the moment,

favorable weather

on a day that started out sunny.

The Falcon 9 rocket, which carries the Dragon capsule on top, will be launched from the legendary platform 39A of the NASA Kennedy Center in Florida, where the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon took off.

The four Americans on board will travel farther than the International Space Station (ISS), up to an orbit 575 km from Earth.

Every day they will go around the world about 15 times.

Travelers will have a spectacular view of space thanks to a glass dome that will be discovered 13 minutes after takeoff.

At the end of their trip, "

approximately three days after takeoff,

" they will begin a dizzying descent to land off the coast of Florida, stopped by parachutes.

Six keys

Jared Isaacman is 38 years old and a billionaire.

  • The

    Dragon

    capsule

that will transport the crew will be on top of a Falcon 9 rocket, at a height of 70 meters. The spacecraft has already sent 10 astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) on three different missions. Dragon,

8 meters high and 4 meters wide,

was modified for this flight in which it will orbit the Earth. A large glass dome was installed to offer the four passengers a 360-degree view of space.

  • Takeoff is scheduled for 8:02 p.m. local time (00:02 GMT Thursday) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The launch window is five hours.

At 2.4 minutes after takeoff and at about 80 km altitude, the first stage of the rocket will separate and

return to Earth to be reused on other flights

    .

About 12 minutes later, the Falcon's second stage will detach, rendering it unusable.

  • Dragon will orbit Earth for three days at a height higher than that of the ISS.

Then, you will return to the planet to land off the coast of Florida by means of a gigantic parachute.

  • The crew trained for six months, much less than the years of preparation required for professional astronauts.

    They learned

to withstand the g (acceleration) force in a centrifuge apparatus

and experienced the lack of gravity.

  • Although the flight should be fully automated, the team was trained by SpaceX to take control of the spacecraft in an emergency.

  • During the mission, the sleep, heart rate, blood and cognitive functions of the crew will be analyzed in order to study how

    the rookies react in space.
