On the roads of the Côte d'Azur, around Cannes and on the Estérel hills, we tested all the new features of the 308, a Peugeot model that has sold some seven million units since its debut.

All the configurations are combined with the individual engines in the range, starting with the thrifty 1.5 Diesel 16v BlueHDi 130, equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox (which we also tested on the large station wagon version), or the EAT8 automatic.


    The petrol versions can count on the efficiency of the award-winning 1.2 three-cylinder Turbo PureTech, with 110 HP or 130 HP, also with an EAT8 automatic transmission. With the plug-in hybrid propulsion, on the other hand, the power levels are 225 HP or 180 HP and in both cases a 1.6 petrol engine is combined with an electric motor, integrated in that e-EAT8 transmission which proved to be fast and precise. on the French hills, where we also verified the effectiveness of the regenerative braking, in the driving function B.


    The exterior design of the new 308, featuring the brand's new logo, is designed to leave its mark. To dictate the way, in this case, a painstaking aerodynamic research, with a 'strategic' rear, designed starting from the optimal air passage points for a 5-door sedan body, defined in the wind tunnel. On the safety and technology front, the front headlamps with LED technology stand out from the first trim level.


    On the upper trim levels, GT and GT Pack, the Full LED headlights are even thinner and adopt Peugeot Matrix LED technology. Seven, the body colors available, from Olivine Green to Vertigo Blue, passing through Red Elixir, White Mother of Pearl, White Ice, Artense Gray and Black Pearl The interior is dominated by the design and functionality of the Peugeot i-Cockpit, which is updated to each generation of 308.


    The new compact steering wheel also integrates sensors capable of identifying the driver's grip on the steering wheel while using the new driving aids. The 10-inch instrument panel, which from the GT version also becomes three-dimensional, is positioned in line with the view of the road.


    The price list starts at 23,750 euros for the PureTech Turbo 110 petrol version with 6-speed manual gearbox in Active Pack set-up. The BlueHDi Diesel engine with the same set-up starts from 26,550 euros, while for the plug-in hybrid, the price list starts from 36,750 euros of the richest Allure staging. The prices of the station wagon instead start from 24,750 euros for the PureTech 110 petrol engine in the Active Pack version.
