Shortly before sunset, the crew landed in the Gulf of Mexico near the Florida coast - and was greeted effusively by the headquarters:

»Inspiration4, on behalf of SpaceX: welcome back to planet earth.

The mission has shown the world that space belongs to everyone and that people like you and me can make an extraordinary difference. "

The participants in the "Inspriration4" mission had spent three days in space and circled the earth several times.

This was the first time that a crew was in space that consisted not of trained astronauts but of lay people.

After landing, a ship made its way to the watered space capsule.

The four space tourists had been shot into space by SpaceX, Elon Musk's space company.

They were traveling at an altitude of almost 600 kilometers, higher than the international space station ISS.

The flight was financed by Jared Isaacman.

The entrepreneur wanted to collect 170 million euros to support a children's hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Also on board: a doctor's assistant, an artist and professor and a space engineer.

The passengers took various items such as a ukulele and hops for brewing space beer, which are now to be auctioned.

SpaceX staged the historic mission with great effort - a successful project for Elon Musk.

He wants to bring more and more tourists into space.

Musk dreams of a future in which people live permanently in space and on Mars.
