Musician Gary Eckstein ("Captain Jack", "Autumn Wind") passed away at the age of 73
As a respected guitarist and composer, Eckstein has signed on to a host of classics, including "Boogie with Me Tonight" and "I'm Going to Beit She'an."

Israeli musician Gary Eckstein passed away today (Monday) in a hospital after battling a severe kidney disease.
He was 73 at the time of his death.
As a guitarist and composer, Eckstein has signed on to a host of classics, including "Captain Jack," "Boogie with Me Tonight," "I'm Going to Beit She'an" and "Autumn Wind."
Apart from that, he was also a partner in the works of many other artists, among other things he arranged the songs of the album "The Silk Road" by Yehudit Ravitz, and participated in the recording of the song "Suddenly When You Didn't Come" by Shlomo Artzi.
In addition, he composed the music for the films "80 Wounds," "Am Yisrael Chai" and "Matriculation Exam."
In 2008, Eckstein had a stroke.

A month ago, Eckstein was awarded a special award by the ACUM board "for his many contributions to Israeli art and culture." Eckstein could not attend the ceremony because of his medical condition. Instead, his daughters Noga and Michal received the award on his behalf. Would say in his characteristic modesty - thank you.

In 2018, Eckstein was interviewed by Maariv and told about his kidney disease: "I am fighting for my life, and the only thing I wish for myself is to live a little longer. Today, only 7% of my kidneys are functioning, and the percentages are declining."
A year earlier, his brother Eran Zeira published a public call for a kidney donor.
"I live on the Ichilov-Holon line," he said.
"Three days a week I have dialysis treatments at the hospital, each lasting several hours. There I have time to log on to Facebook and keep up to date on everything happening on social media. The rest of the days I rest at home. I am physically and mentally exhausted, and I do not have much strength and desire to walk around the city. I feel good at home, on the couch and in front of the TV. "
