A five-year-old Syrian child was fatally injured after being hit by a car in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime), near Rouen, which led to a rally of around 70 people on Tuesday evening, a we learned Wednesday from a police source.
Since then, two people have been taken into police custody in connection with this sad affair according to Paris-Normandy.
“A five-year-old boy of Syrian nationality was struck on a pedestrian crossing in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray around 8.15 pm.
The child was accompanied by his father who walked behind him.
He was thrown 15 meters away as a result of the shock, ”according to a police source.
The boy was evacuated to Rouen University Hospital and died in hospital from his injuries.
An investigation has been opened for manslaughter and hit-and-run.
A gathering of 70 people from the Syrian community took place in the aftermath of the tragedy, according to the same source.
