Two minors aged 16 and 17 were indicted as part of the investigation into the death on Tuesday of a five-year-old Syrian child in a traffic accident in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime), we learned Thursday from the Rouen prosecutor's office.
“The two minors were presented to the examining magistrate.
They were indicted, the driver for manslaughter, aggravated by the lack of a driving license and the hit-and-run, and the passenger for complicity in a hit-and-run and not assisting a person in danger ”, indicated to the AFP the prosecutor of the Republic of Rouen, Frédéric Teillet.
The prosecution had requested the placement under judicial supervision of the passenger and the provisional detention of the driver.
“The passenger was effectively placed under judicial control.
The driver requested time to prepare his defense and was imprisoned by the Judge of Freedoms (JLD) pending the adversarial debate scheduled for next Tuesday, ”added the prosecutor.
Following the fatal accident, around 70 people gathered in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray on Tuesday evening.
