What are we going to see at the Google hardware event?

Google, unlike its competitors that have already launched an offensive announcement campaign ahead of the holidays, has not yet announced a hardware event and the launch of the Pixel 6, but speculation is that the event will take place in early October.

But this week Microsoft launched its new computers, about two weeks ago Apple announced the new iPhone, and next week Amazon will also host its hardware event.

The timing is not coincidental - all the companies are announcing these days their shiny new irons (Microsoft also has the launch of Windows 11 on October 5) in honor of the holidays.

Not ours that is finally coming to an end - the Christian holidays in the United States, which are known to be an opportunity to purchase glittering technological gifts.

And who are we missing?

Google.

The company has not yet officially announced a hardware event, but the expectation is that the internet giant will not lag behind its competitors.

Here is what we assume we will see there:

Pixel 6

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro that Google landed on us quite surprisingly, are already starring in Google billboards across the United States, so the launch is a matter of days, alongside devices that have already started popping up in online videos in the hands of bloggers, and official FCC approval.

Pixel 6 and its big brother 6 Pro, are a significant leap forward for the Pixel series in two main ways: hardware and cameras. On the hardware side, Google is coming out for the first time with a processor made by it, similar to Apple's m1 or Samsung's Exynos, under the name Tensor. The name is not coincidental, Tensor are the processors that Google has developed for itself for artificial intelligence and this is actually a mobile version of them. Expectations from the new processors are high, both in terms of performance, graphics and of course, assistance with artificial intelligence operations that before the outbreak of the corona, in the age of big announcements, received a lot of emphasis in the world of smartphones.

Another serious innovation as mentioned, is the cameras. Google has not actually renewed its camera hardware since the Pixel 3, and it has meanwhile become obsolete. Not anymore - the Pixel 6 will have a main 50-megapixel camera, a 12-megapixel wide camera, and the Pro model will probably also have a 48-megapixel camera for telephoto with a four-fold optical zoom.

Both devices will of course support a fifth generation, while the Pro model will probably also get support for UWB, ultra-broadband communications, which is a radio technology that has recently entered smartphones with applications like object detection or a car wireless key.

The battery for Peru will most likely have a 5,000 mAh battery and the phones will support fast wireless charging.

Foldable pixel

In light of the fact that quite a few major manufacturers are going for phones with folding screens, such as Samsung with the Fold 3 and Flip 3, and Microsoft which announced only Tuesday the Duo 2 which is also in the form of a book with two screens that connect, the possible announcement of a folding version of Pixel, which has been renamed Pixel Fold, is not necessarily a far-fetched affair - and rumor has it that the device is indeed in development and will be announced at the event.

If it does exist, Google keeps the Pixel Fold, under a heavy cloak of confidentiality and sources claim under the code name "Passport", and may be exposed at the expected hardware event.

Apparently, it will also use its brother Maala's Tensor processor in question, and will probably contain a flexible screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, made by Samsung - the same screen currently used in the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

the clock is ticking

At the opening event of its developer conference in May, Google I / O, the company announced a serious and required facelift to its wearable computing operating system, WearOS (formerly Android Wear). Although Google then announced new watches together with Samsung such as the Galaxy Watch 4, but for some time now there has been talk that Google will release its own watch, also under the brand name Pixel. In Tekel's? This is a logical move, since Google needs a smartwatch from its creator, to complete the line against competitors like Apple and in fact Samsung as well.

ChromeOS-based Chromebooks in the world are a dizzying success, which unfortunately has been a bit missed on Israel (official import, Google, cough). Google has occasionally shone with tablets and laptops under the Pixel brand, the last of which was in 2019, and there is a situation where the company will take advantage of the new Tensor processors for more smartphone soup, and also renew the Pixel computer line. The rumors in the industry actually talk more about 2023, but maybe Google will surprise us?

And finally, and this is based on tradition - Google will most likely take advantage of the smart event renewal of the smart home lines that are currently sheltered under the Nest brand, as well as perhaps new headphones.

We will know in the announcement, but before Google announces a date - the clock is ticking, Google!
