Chinese automaker MG is introducing "Autumn Refresh" ahead of the start of marketing its 2022 models.

The main news is very relevant to the Israeli market as three main models of this offer are on their way to Israel.

According to the importer Lubinski Group, the three models will land here towards the end of the first quarter of 2022. The

first and most relevant in terms of market share is the electric ZS.

Until Tesla's arrival, it was the best-selling electric vehicle in Israel, receiving an update to the exterior design, with the most prominent component being the sealed front grille, which distinguishes it even more from the petrol version.

In the cabin, the changes focus on the area of the multimedia system, beyond the increase to 10.1 inches (8 inches at present), with the manufacturer talking about upgrading and improving the operation and function of the system.

All new models will make use of the new iSMART system, and this is something that this model definitely needed as it came up in the comparative test we conducted between it and the electric Hyundai Buyer.

Underneath the chassis is the most significant change, with the model offering two battery versions.

The base will be with a 51 kWh battery (45.6 kWh at present), this declares a range of 318km compared to a declared range of 263km in the current version.

To this will be added a long-range version with a 72 kWh battery where the declared range is 439 km.

With an internal charger of 11 kilowatts this version will charge the battery in a home position within 10.5 hours and you can also get energy from a charging station of 100 kilowatts that will last 42 minutes.

A second model that is on its way here and is brand new for the local market is the Marvel, this is the company’s first dedicated electric model, that is, one that does not rely on an existing petrol equivalent.

In his case, this is another version, one that will come in a rear-wheel drive configuration.

Like other competing crossovers like the Skoda Aniac Hyundai Ionic 5 also splits the model into a range of single-engine rear-wheel drive and dual-engine dual-propulsion.

In his case, it will continue to use the same 70 kWh battery, but it is an engine with an output of 180 hp and 41.8 kg. Beyond the cheaper price, it is also expected to offer a longer driving range than the dual-propulsion version (288 hp). And a range of 370 km). In his case it is a declared range of 402 km.

The Marvel will be able to charge the batteries at positions of up to 92 kilowatts, so 43 minutes is what it would take to get from 5 to 80 percent.

The third model is the 5 EV, a car that does belong to a disappearing segment - compact station wagons - but depending on its price may be one of the most interesting additions and has the highest potential in the local tram market.

Not necessarily to the private customer who has long since abandoned the cars of its kind, but to the extent that it succeeds in penetrating the leasing market as an electric alternative at an attractive price.

Its base is a petrol car, and the exterior design is admittedly not as sweeping and futuristic as we are used to finding in electric vehicles.

In contrast at least in the photos it looks like its cabin is modern, with a digital dashboard, floating multimedia screen, dial-shaped gear selector.

And in fact, except for the sweeping problem of more and more new cars of evading physical controls for the audio and air conditioning system as well as too low air vents - it is definitely interesting.

The electric MG5 has two versions, both with an engine with an output of 156 hp and 26.5 kg and also offer the same performance - 7.7 seconds per 100 km / h and a maximum speed of 185 km / h.

But differ from each other in battery size.

The first with one with a capacity of 50.3 kWh and the second with 61.1 kWh.

Differences in battery size mean, of course, the stated range of 320 km in the 52.5 kWh version and 400 km in the 61.1 kWh version.

In the UK, its price will be "below £ 30,000", according to the manufacturer, which means a gap of around £ 5,000 more than the price of a Toyota Corolla station wagon hybrid, how much of this gap will be reduced thanks to the various tax benefits in Israel?

A good question that will greatly affect its prospects in the local market.
