As it turns out, the topics she deals with, led by the huge social gaps, fascinate people from all over the world, and she even broke a record of popularity for a new series on Netflix (for views of at least two minutes, which is not to say).

And as with any new cultural phenomenon that crosses borders and audiences, predictably and boringly, the worried parents arrive, fearful of the example their children will receive from TV series.

A few months ago we experienced this moral panic in front of “Bnei Or,” and now it has popped up in front of the Korean series, which is limited to ages 16 and up anyway.

Although the "danger" was announced in the studio, the article did not present a single case in which the "squid game" did in fact lead to a disturbing act of any kind. The only concrete effect was actually positive: studying Korean and taking an interest in the country's culture - which is really like cultural gold - and why not actually? Another Netflix sensation, "Queen Gambit," describes, among other things, an addiction to hallucinogenic drugs, but it mostly got people, what do you know, interested in chess. Culture opens gates, why lock them voluntarily?

Indeed, it is not a series for everyone: the violence in it is graphic, the world it describes is cruel - but anyone who can see beyond that can recognize many other things in it: it also has compassion, it has the identification of power relations in society and criticism of them, there In her people are caring enough not to stand aside in the face of this cruelty, like the good cop who accompanies her. It also has a lot of TV flaws of all kinds, of course.

Not a series for everyone.

But that's not the point at all.

With all due respect to the Torah moral panic - not TV series responsible for violence, poverty, neglect and lack of solidarity - neither "Bnei Or" nor "The Squid Game" nor "Unknown" nor "Blackspace" nor "The Paper House", but real, collapsing and degenerate social systems , Which fail to provide an answer here, in Israel.

No sensation from Korea is to blame for this.

And if the parents' concern is already rising about vulgar and violent content on television, it may be worthwhile to dilute the viewing of new editions full of horror stories or the nasty infantilism from the Knesset, or to shorten the length of editions if it turns out that there is room for such unnecessary articles.

And if in a network edition so concerned about games involving intrigue, rudeness and humiliation that there is only one winner left who takes a huge prize, I can think of a few shows that might interest them.
