The man suspected of having brutally killed Évelyne K., retired 77 years, Wednesday at her home in Agde, was indicted for "murder and theft" and placed in pre-trial detention, announced the public prosecutor of Béziers , Raphaël Balland.

“We had to act very quickly to apprehend the perpetrator to prevent him from fleeing.

Several elements have allowed him to seriously question him.

The suspect, bald, could be easily identified on the CCTV cameras installed in the victim.

The DNA on the latex gloves, abandoned in the garden, was confused with that of Jean-Michel M.

Traces of the victim's blood were also found on the suspect's shoes, the same ones shown on CCTV.

His car was also caught by city cameras near the victim's home.

According to the prosecution, Jean-Michel M, 51 years old and father of two children, a former boxer, suffered from "neurological disorders" and who, according to his statements in police custody, has no memory of the acts with which he is accused.

At home, the investigators found many post-its as a reminder.

He is separated but not divorced, officially without a profession.

His wife told investigators that she continued to care for him because of his neurological issues.

On the day of the incident, the suspect was leaving a consultation with his psychologist.

"The future will tell us if he is responsible for his actions," said the prosecutor.

It is the son of this former teacher who alerted the emergency services from Essonne where he lives, Wednesday.

His mother was not answering the phone, and the CCTV footage of the house, to which he had access, showed an unusual and disturbing mess and a figure lying on the floor.

"She was nice, I was familiar with her"

Arriving on site, the emergency services discovered the headless body of the unfortunate woman, lying in the kitchen.

The autopsy determined that beheading was the cause of death.

The victim was probably killed between 5:30 p.m. and 6:10 p.m.

Facts "of rare violence", never seen in the career of the public prosecutor, he says.

Many material elements allowed investigators to question Jean-Michel M. Thursday evening, less than 24 hours after the discovery of the facts.

The suspect's wife was the victim's former housekeeper.

Jean-Michel M. also knew her personally: he had done some small jobs at her place.

He "got along well with her," he said while in police custody.

"She was nice, I was familiar with her".

With the bank card he stole from him, he was filmed withdrawing 1,000 euros from an ATM.

The public prosecutor also opened an investigation for violation of the secrecy of the investigation, after the revelation of details concerning the scene of the crime.
