For relatives, the case is carried with "difficulty" by the investigating judge because of "the lack of cooperation" of Japan with France, explains Damien Véron.

Tiphaine Véron disappeared on July 29, 2018 in Nikko, a tourist city in northeastern Japan surrounded by hills and woods with famous shrines.

Then 36 years old, the young woman, epileptic, had left her hotel to go for a walk, leaving behind her suitcase and passport.

For three years, the searches carried out by his relatives on the spot, have yielded nothing, nor the judicial investigations carried out from Poitiers and in Japan.

The examining magistrate from Poitou recently sent an international letter of request to Japan to ask it to carry out new investigations.

The family of Tiphaine Véron deplores in fact that the criminal hypothesis has "never been really explored" by Japanese investigators. “We hope that the Japanese state will collaborate with French justice. We ask President Macron not to let go of the pressure on Japan, ”said Damien Véron. With his family and their lawyers, the brother hopes to travel to Japan in 2022 to “support” their demands.
