When the third generation of Ford Focus arrived in Israel at the beginning of the previous decade, it seemed that its path to the top was paved, after a very great success of the first two generations.

But it was soon discovered that the model had a series of problems in the finishing and more critical area that had a lateral malfunction in the dual-clutch gearbox.

This was a costly glitch for the manufacturer, importer and especially for the model whose reputation has been damaged and has struggled to recover since, even when he returned to using a standard planetary gearbox.

Ford is now making a brave move when it puts the dual-clutch gearbox back into use and even under the same brand name powershift in its facelifted versions.

The term "facelift" is certainly appropriate in this case, when the front grille is stretched to the sides and is in a honeycomb structure, the lighting units become narrower and in the front bumper "air intakes" replace the fog lamps.

At the back the change is much less tangible and focuses on headlights.

In the cabin the most noticeable change is the use of a huge 13.2-inch multimedia screen.

Which as in other new models "swallows" the operation of climate control.

Its place is now taken by the paddle button and the volume control knob.

The Focus' propulsion will continue to make the 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine.

The engine will reach the first two power levels with 125 hp and 21.4 kg and the second with 155 hp and 24.4 kg.

Both versions are joined by an electric unit that is not used to propel the car while driving, but to extend the periods of time it can stand with the engine off.

In terms of performance, the 125 hp version records 10.2 seconds per 100 km / h and a maximum of 195 km / h. The 155 hp version will accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.4 seconds and up to 208 km / h Maximum.

The versions that are less relevant to Israel are those with the 1.0 engine without a turbocharger that will come in a manual version only, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 95 or 120 hp.

In terms of new technology, along with the new screen and compatibility with Android and Apple devices, the renewed focus will also support remote software updates (over the air), voice commands, LED matrix lighting as an option, existing safety systems and additional automatic emergency braking at the junction, "Active steering correction added and more.

In Israel, we are expected to see the renewed focus during the second quarter of 2022.
