A 39-year-old woman is suspected of having thrown her eight-month-old baby from her apartment on the third floor of a building in Nancy, before breaking out of the window, we learned from the prosecution on Tuesday.
The facts took place on Monday evening.
Help was called "on the scene of a double fall from the third floor of a building in the center of Nancy," Stéphane Javet, deputy public prosecutor, told AFP, confirming information from the daily L 'Is Republican.
On the spot, the rescuers discovered "a woman, aged 39, and her eight month old baby lying on the ground, injured".
In their apartment, a chair was found "leaning against the balcony railing," added the magistrate.

The two injured were taken to hospital.
The mother is in critical condition and the baby's vital prognosis is underway.
The child's father was not present at the time of the incident.
The mother presented "psychological or even psychiatric disorders" and would have made several stays at the Psychotherapeutic Center of Nancy, according to the first elements of the investigation, which "remain to be confirmed" specifies the prosecution.
The investigation, opened for attempted homicide on a 15-year-old minor, was entrusted to the departmental security.
