The electric Fiat Nuova 500 is Auto Europa 2022. The members of the Italian Union of Automotive Journalists elected it, together with the enthusiasts of a popular jury and opinion leader of the country, evaluating it as the best car produced and marketed in Europe by design, comfort, dynamism and completeness of the range.
Car journalists were convinced by the electric evolution of the iconic city car crowned as the protagonist of the mobility of tomorrow. In addition to the new Fiat 500, the other electric Audi Q4 e-tron, the BMW 4 Series, the Cupra Formentor, the Dacia Sandero, the Hyundai Tucson and the Nissan Qashqai can boast of the title of finalists at Auto Europa.
The award ceremony took place in the evocative Nuvola Lavazza in Turin, after two days of work in the busy program of the 'Auto Europa' award which centered on Villa Rey, headquarters of ASI - Automotoclub Storico Italiano. All the finalist cars arrived on the market between September 1st 2020 and August 31st 2021 and will be remembered as 'self courage', because they were launched during the pandemic emergency that gripped the economy and the social fabric all over the world. .
"The seven finalists of this 36th edition of Auto Europa - commented Gaetano Cesarano, president of UIGA - are perfect ambassadors of what the car best expresses today in terms of design, technological performance, dynamic efficiency, environmental sustainability and attractiveness on the market. .
The enthusiasm with which so many took part in the voting demonstrates the great potential that the four wheels can still express, despite the adversity caused by too many uninformed or ill-disposed decision makers.
Cesarano then added that "The success of the electric Fiat Nuova 500 attests to the great innovative capacity of the Stellantis Group through an icon of Italian design, in the wake of tradition but with an eye to the future. These are strategic indicators of how to win. the challenge of e-mobility by leveraging style and the ability to move emotions even before people ".
Since 1954, UIGA has been associating journalists specialized in the automotive, mobility and transport sectors, promoting the professional development of communication operators, especially towards younger people looking for specific training on the subject of engines.
This year, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the prestigious Auto Europe Award, UIGA, in collaboration with ASI, has awarded three special awards to as many winning cars in previous editions: Audi 80 for design, Citroën XM for originality of the project and Alfa Romeo 156 for performance.
