The seven-day incidence in Germany has reached 110.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Monday morning as 110.1.

For comparison: the previous day the value was 106.3, a week ago it was 74.4.

The health authorities in Germany reported 6573 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

This is evident from the figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5 a.m.

A week ago the value was 4056 infections.

According to the new information, 17 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 10 deaths.

The RKI has counted 4,472,730 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions - was given by the RKI on Friday at 2.68 (Thursday 2.45).

No figures will be released on the weekend.

With the indicator it must be taken into account that hospital admissions are sometimes reported with delay.

A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences.

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

Spahn insists on the end of the epidemic situation of national scope

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 4,215,200.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 95,117.

Despite the increasing number of infections, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) believes that the so-called epidemic situation of national scope in the corona pandemic should expire.

In the ZDF “heute-journal” he said on Sunday: “The state of emergency, established by the Bundestag, can, in my opinion, be ended because four out of five adults are vaccinated.”

The Bundestag extended the "epidemic situation of national importance" for a further three months at the end of August.

It expires automatically if it is not renewed by Parliament.

The "epidemic situation" gives federal and state governments the authority to issue ordinances on corona measures such as mask requirements, distance and contact restrictions or the procurement of vaccines.
