Surveillance interrupted for more than 5 hours.
A failure affected the operation of all electronic bracelets managed by the interregional directorate of prison services in Paris, according to information from BFMTV confirmed to the Parisian by a source of the prison administration.
The Thalès company, which manages the control system for persons placed under electronic surveillance, informed the prison administration on Monday of the interruption of its service for 5:20 a.m. from 4.30 p.m. to 9:50 p.m.
The technical problem would have been completely resolved around 10:30 p.m., according to the 24-hour news channel.
No incidents observed, according to the prison administration
Thus, the authorities were unable to monitor individuals with an electronic bracelet for more than 5 hours.
Placement under electronic surveillance can concern both people at the end of their sentence with a reintegration project as well as those indicted under house arrest.
This technical issue also affected the operation of anti-reconciliation bracelets, a device supposed to protect women from a violent ex-boyfriend.
At this stage, no incident resulting from this interruption of service has been reported, however, the prison administration assured.

The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti asked the director of the prison administration to receive those responsible for the device so that they could provide all the necessary clarifications.
The latter are also required to specify the measures taken to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.
