The upgrade that many have been waiting for has arrived: Zoom announced yesterday (Tuesday) the launch of a new tool for automatic subtitles (live transcript) during Zoom's video calls - also in the free version.
This feature, which provides automatic captioning during zoom call management, is also available for paid Zoom accounts and Zoom Video Webinars and is designed to help people with hearing difficulties during calls.
Initially, the service is only available in English, with the company planning to expand it to other languages in the near future.
According to Zoom Product Manager Theresa Larkin, it is important for the company that everyone can connect, communicate and participate successfully through Zoom.
"Without the right accessibility tools, people with disabilities face difficult barriers when using video communication solutions. We at Zoom focus on building a platform that is accessible to everyone, and features like automatic subtitles are an important part of this mission."

Call participants can still privately ask the meeting host to allow live transcript during the meeting using the meeting toolbar.
Zoom also supports manual subtitling as well as integration with third-party subtitle services.
Larkin emphasizes that Zoom offers many accessibility and accessibility features across the Zoom platform, such as accessible keyboards, screen reader support and voice mail transcript.
"Our mission is to enable a more egalitarian communication experience."
