This is what it looks like - according to the manufacturer, the world's first condom that both men and women can use.
A Malaysian company plans to launch the product in December.
John Tang Ing Ching, company founder: »This condom can be attached to both the penis and the vagina thanks to its adhesive edge. It also protects the adjacent area. The non-adhesive part of the condom can be turned in both directions. This turns it into either a male or female condom, so it is suitable for both sexes. "
Issues such as contraception and sexuality are much more taboo in Malaysia, which is dominated by Muslims, than in Germany, for example.
According to the idea of its inventor, the unisex condom should give women more sexual self-determination.
It is made from the same material as transparent wound dressings: waterproof, flexible and thin.
John Tang Ing Ching, company founder: "Based on our clinical trials, I am optimistic that it can be a useful addition to the many contraceptive methods against unwanted pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases."
A box of two condoms sells for $ 3 60, which is significantly higher than the price of regular condoms in Malaysia - but below the price of the birth control pill.
