All citizens are generally entitled to a Corona booster vaccination.
The Federal Ministry of Health has pointed this out again with reference to the Vaccination Ordinance.
For some groups, however, booster vaccinations are particularly useful.
The Ministry lists the following groups, who are usually
recommended to receive a further dose no
earlier than six months after the primary vaccination course
:
from 80 years of age
from 60 years of age after individual consideration and medical advice,
People who live in nursing homes or old people's homes,
People in need of care who live at home
People with an immunodeficiency,
medical and nursing staff who have regular contact with infectious people,
close household contacts of people with severe immunodeficiency,
Twice vaccinated with Vaxzevria from AstraZeneca
People who received a single dose of a vector vaccine (AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson) following corona infection.
A booster
vaccination is
recommended
as early
as four weeks after the primary vaccination
course for the following groups
People with severe immunodeficiency or immunosuppression,
simply vaccinated with the means of Johnson & Johnson.
The list is based on resolutions of the Conference of Health Ministers (GMK).
Stiko recommends boosters from the age of 70
The recommendations differ somewhat from those of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko).
Because the panel had recommended booster vaccinations for everyone aged 70 and over.
Medical representatives had previously criticized Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn.
"We are annoyed that Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn is fueling expectations that booster vaccinations are possible for everyone," said the board member of the General Practitioner Association, Armin Beck, the editorial network Germany.
"The general practitioners follow the recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission, which currently recommends third vaccinations only for people over 70 and a few other groups."
Due to Spahn's statements, however, the need for clarification and discussion in the practices is increasing.
Beck announced that if the Stiko expanded its recommendation, the general practitioners would also vaccinate these groups.
So far, the Stiko does not generally recommend the third vaccination for younger age groups, but only in certain cases, for example for medical and nursing staff.
Most of the younger people were also only vaccinated in the summer, so the recommended minimum interval of six months to basic immunization is not over yet - and their vaccination protection should still be reliable.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, a good 1.9 million people in Germany have received a booster vaccination so far.
