Trailer for the movie "Where's Anne Frank" (Cannes Film Festival)
The European Film Academy announced today (Tuesday) the nominations for its awards, also known as the "European Oscars".
No Israeli film with flesh-and-blood actors has managed to fit into the various categories, but "Where's Anne Frank", the animated film in question by Ari Pullman, is nominated in the animation category.
"Where's Anne Frank" is nominated on the Danish "Flee" side, which is ironically influenced by Pullman's "Waltz with Bashir".
It deals with the hardships of a gay Afghan immigrant who escapes from his homeland and settles in Scandinavia, and is considered a favorite for the award.
This is an animated documentary, so it is also nominated in the docu-category.
Other nominees in the animation category: Irish "Wolf Leaders", a acclaimed and acclaimed film available on Apple Toy Plus and also nominated for an Oscar, the Scandinavian "Monkey Star" and "Even Mice Have a Place in Heaven", both lower profile films.
