American actor Dean Stockwell passed away at the age of 85. Stockwell, best known for his role as Admiral Al Calvichi in the series "Jump to Yesterday", for his role there was nominated four times for the Emmy Award, and was also nominated for an Oscar for "Married to the Mafia" alongside Michelle Piper.

According to his family announcement, Stockwell died at his home peacefully under natural circumstances.

Stockwell began his career as a child in the 1940s, under contract with MGM Studios, and has starred on many Broadway shows. As an adult actor he stood out in the 1962 film A Long Journey into the Night, which won him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. Over the next few decades he appeared in supporting roles in films such as "Dune" and "Blue Velvet" by David Lynch (in 1984 and 1987, respectively), "Paris, Texas" by Wim Wenders from 1984, "Live and Die in Los Angeles" "William Friedkin's 1985" Les, "Beverly Hills Cop" 1987, 1988 "Married to the Mafia," Robert Altman's "Actor" from 1992, and the 1997 Air Force 1 action thriller alongside Harrison Ford .



For five seasons between 1989 and 1993 he played the role of Al in the series "Jump to Yesterday", whose role was to assist as a hologram for the protagonist Sam Beckett, played by Scott Bacola, while he jumps from period to period every episode.

A decade later, between 2004 and 2009, he played Brother Cavill in a remake of the Battlestar Galactica MDA series. His roles in these series made Stockwell a sought-after guest at science fiction conferences.
