The government unreservedly approved the proposed resolution to encourage foreign productions to film in Israel by providing financial assistance to reduce production costs, which was first published last week in Walla!

According to the new procedure, a foreign production that arrives to shoot in Israel will be reimbursed for the film production expenses of 25 percent.
The decision was led by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Tourism.
As part of the decision, a sum of NIS 45 million will be allocated for the next two years, which will be used to produce foreign films and series in Israel.
The assistance will be provided through a special grant track from the Investment Authority in the Ministry of Economy and Industry, as part of which foreign productions filmed in Israel will be able to receive financial grants to strengthen industry in Israel.
The government hopes that the move will help brand Israel positively as a focal point for filming international films and series, provide a livelihood for many Israelis who will participate in the various productions and encourage tourism.

As part of the decision, any production that comes to film in Israel will receive a 25 percent reimbursement of expenses.
NIS 24 million will be allocated in 2022, of which NIS 6 million will be from the Ministry of Finance's budget, and in addition each of these ministries will invest NIS four and a half million - the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2023, NIS 21 million will be allocated by government ministries.

Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman said: "Making the State of Israel a center of international films and series brings with it a huge message to the Israeli economy, to new jobs created thanks to the move, to inbound tourism and especially to the national pride of us all. "The creativity and initiative that this government brings with it."
