A new high in the pandemic has been exceeded: According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence is more than 300. In addition, the health authorities reported 43 more corona deaths.

In Germany there is currently intense discussion about the planned expiry of the so-called epidemic situation.

Critics point to the rising number of infections in the autumn, which make the step of the future government targeted for November 25th at least appear dubious.

These critics should see themselves confirmed by the latest case numbers.

Because the nationwide

seven-day incidence

has risen again. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Monday morning as

303.0

. For comparison: the previous day the value was 289.0, a week ago it was 201.1 (previous month: 68.7). The health authorities in Germany reported

23,607 new corona infections to

the RKI within one day

.

This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:52 a.m.

Last Thursday, the number of new infections reached 50,196, a record since the beginning of the pandemic.

Exactly one week ago the value was 15,513 infections.

The reported numbers of new infections are generally lower on Mondays, which can be explained by reporting delays due to the weekend.

According to the new information,

43 deaths were

recorded across

Germany within 24 hours

.

A week ago there were 33 deaths.

The RKI has counted 5,045,076 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The number of

corona patients admitted to clinics

per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions - was given by the RKI

on Friday

as

4.70

(Thursday: 4.65).

The value will not be published on the weekend.

With the indicator it must be taken into account that hospital admissions are sometimes reported with delay.

A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences.

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 4,494,300.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 97,715.

The presumed new federal government made up of the SPD, FDP and the Greens is sticking to its plan to let the epidemic situation run out on a national scale.

This legal status made extensive contact restrictions and other hard corona requirements possible.

However, the possible coalition partners are apparently planning a significant tightening of the planned amendment to the Infection Protection Act.

This should allow contact restrictions to be ordered even after November 25th, as can be seen from an agreement between representatives of the three parliamentary groups that is available to the dpa news agency.

New regulation planned for buses and trains

It is about unvaccinated people, as Greens boss Robert Habeck had previously indicated in the ARD.

In addition, unvaccinated people should no longer be allowed to use buses and trains without a negative test - regardless of the mask requirement that continues to apply.

According to the plans, the federal states should be able to retain certain individual measures by resolution of their respective state parliament, including, for example: the prohibition or restriction of leisure, cultural and sporting events as well as assemblies, entry bans in health facilities, alcohol bans and the closure of universities, for example.

However, the federal states also no longer have the right to exit or travel restrictions or to prohibit or restrict catering or hotel businesses, commercial or commercial enterprises or the exercise of sports.

As previously planned, the measures are to apply until March 19, 2022.

There is also a one-time extension option.

The amendment to the Infection Protection Act has already been introduced in the Bundestag.

The hearing of experts, which is part of the legislative process, is scheduled for this Monday.

Parliament is due to vote on Thursday.
