“Alexa, change your voice”: With these words, a male voice can now be set in Amazon's voice assistance software.
You can also switch back to the standard voice with the same voice command; alternatively, you can change your voice using the Amazon Alexa app.
The corresponding function has been available in the USA since the middle of the year, and is now also being activated in Germany.
According to Amazon, the new voice also supports what is known as dynamic language selection.
This means that communication with the software in both German and English is possible at any time without changing the language settings.
According to Amazon, it may take a few more days for the new voice to arrive on all devices.
The function is only just being rolled out.
How the new voice sounds can already be found out in a YouTube video.
“This is how you know me,” sings the previous Alexa voice, the new voice replies: “I guess not yet.
I have a new voice. "
In the further course of the duet, the two Alexa voices emphasize that they have the same character, the same knowledge and the same sense of humor. The interaction with Alexa may sound different in the future, but nothing changes in terms of content through a voice change. Adjusting the voice affects only one device at a time, not all Alexa-enabled devices at home at once.
According to Amazon, further changes at Alexa are due in 2022: At some point in the coming year, the software in Germany should be activated with a new word called
Ziggy
.

Amazon will continue to work as
activation words, even if the male voice is set.
Conversely,
Ziggy
will in future also
help activate when the female voice is active.
Amazon has not given the new voting option a name of its own.
