Twenty days after their son's suicide in prison, Jérôme Gaillard's parents are released.

Monique and Jean Gaillard, 72 and 75 years old, indicted for complicity in murder in the case of the death of Magali Blandin, their stepdaughter, were released on Wednesday, according to our colleagues from Ouest-France.

Their son, Jérôme Gaillard, had confessed his responsibility in this murder.

Suspected of having killed the mother of his four children with a baseball bat on February 11 in Montfort-sur-Meu (Ille-et-Vilaine), he committed suicide in prison on October 31.

Monique and Jean Gaillard, indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on March 20, saw their release accompanied by judicial control and a removal measure, specifies Ouest-France.

The suspect's parents are suspected of having been informed of their son's criminal plan which led to the death of Magali Blandin.

On October 12, they were confronted with him during a 6-hour face-to-face meeting in which they allegedly admitted having learned of the murder plan and a number of details.

50,000 euros and an alibi

According to the investigation, Jérôme Gaillard planned to remove his wife, who was asking for a divorce, since the fall of 2020. He then appealed to Georgians - also indicted - for a sum of 20,000 euros.

His parents, retired cattle dealers to whom he was very close, had paid him 50,000 euros, without the investigation saying for the time being whether they knew what part of this money was going to be used for.

Monique and Jean Gaillard are also suspected of having provided their son with an alibi on the day of the murder.

Their release, ordered by the judge of freedoms and detention, was motivated by their respective lawyers.

"(The) place (of Monique Gaillard) is not in a remand center", defended in April his lawyer, Me Gwendoline Ténier.
