6.53 a.m.:

The nationwide

seven-day incidence of

new corona infections has risen to another record high.

As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced early Tuesday morning, citing data from the health authorities, the value increased to

399.8

.

It reached a new high for the 16th day in a row.

On Monday the incidence was

386.5

, on Tuesday of last week it was

312.4

.

The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

On November 8, the value in Germany had exceeded the threshold of 200 and thus the previous high since the beginning of the pandemic of 197.6.

Since then, new highs have been recorded every day.

As the RKI announced on Tuesday,

45,326 new infections

with the

corona virus

were recorded nationwide within 24 hours

.

The

death toll from

the pandemic in Germany rose by

309

to 99,433 cases.

The federal and state governments set the so-called hospitalization incidence on Thursday as the decisive benchmark for tightening the corona measures.

This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants are in hospital within seven days because of a corona infection.

From a value of three, the 2G rule applies across the board for events in a federal state - that is, only those vaccinated against the coronavirus and those recovered from Covid-19 are allowed.

From a value of six, the 2G-Plus rule applies, in which those who have been vaccinated and recovered must also show a negative corona test.

According to the latest information from the RKI on the incidence of

hospitalization

, this value was

5.28

nationwide on Monday

Dreyer: If vaccination is compulsory for certain occupational groups, Bund am Zug

6.45 a.m.:

The Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Malu Dreyer sees the federal government as an obligation in the debate about compulsory vaccination for certain professional groups. "At the Prime Minister's Conference last Thursday, the federal states asked the federal government to introduce compulsory vaccinations for all employees in hospitals and care facilities as soon as possible," the SPD politician told the German Press Agency. "I think it is important that the federal government implement this quickly." Dreyer emphasized: "We have to protect the vulnerable groups in particular."

At the same time, the head of government appealed to people who have not yet been vaccinated to make use of one of the numerous offers and still get vaccinated.

"The greatest challenge on the way out of the pandemic is still the excessive number of unvaccinated people," said Dreyer.

"We want to get as many people as possible in Rhineland-Palatinate to vaccinate and those who have basic immunization to boost."

To this end, the vaccination strategy has been ramped up significantly.

In addition to the area-wide vaccination offers by resident doctors, there are vaccination buses, municipal offers, 21 hospital locations and reactivated vaccination centers.

"In view of the very serious situation, we will introduce the 2G regulation nationwide from Wednesday," announced Dreyer.

The Council of Ministers will finally discuss this on Tuesday in Mainz.
