The new variant of Covid-19 detected in South Africa, called Omicron and deemed
"worrying"
by the WHO, is spreading and has reached Europe, where Belgium has detected a first case, pushing the world to gradually close its borders to southern Africa.
Potentially very contagious and with multiple mutations, the identification of this new variant of Covid-19 was announced Thursday in South Africa.
One case has been reported in Hong Kong, one in Israel in a person returning from Malawi and another in Belgium.
