The nationwide

seven-day incidence

has fallen again.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Wednesday morning at

442.9

.

A high of 452.4 had been reached on Monday.

On Tuesday the value was slightly below at 452.2.

A week ago the value was 404.5 (previous month: 118.0).

The health authorities in Germany also reported

67,186 new corona infections to

the RKI within one day

.

This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:55 a.m.

Exactly a week ago there were 66,884 infections.

According to the new information,

446 deaths were

recorded

across

Germany within 24 hours

.

A week ago there were 335 deaths.

The RKI has counted 5,903,999 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

The RKI stated the number of people recovered on Wednesday at 4,937,600.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 101,790.

"We won't see until spring how bad this fourth wave really turned out"

According to the President of the RKI, the full extent of the fourth corona wave in Germany should only become clear in a few months.

"We won't see until spring how bad this fourth wave really turned out," said Lothar Wieler of the German Press Agency.

For example, blood donation examinations or population-representative samples will show how high the proportion of people is who have already developed antibodies against corona - be it through vaccination or infection.

In this way, among other things, the extent of undetected cases can be better assessed.

Wieler also stated: »The best thing would be if everyone who could be vaccinated had to be vaccinated.

Then we still have this virus in our country, but the proportion of people who are seriously ill next winter would be much lower. "
