The first snow of the season that whitened the peaks of the Alps and the Apennines was also immortalized from space, by the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellite, the Earth satellite observation program managed by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Commission European.
The image, acquired on November 30, shows the white mantle that has covered large areas of central Europe, and in particular of Italy, France, Spain and Croatia.
While the western part of the continent experienced below average temperatures and heavy snow in the last days of November, the eastern part reached exceptionally warm temperatures for the period, with peaks of 31 degrees in Cyprus.
