After quite a few rumors and delays, Google's payment service, Google Pay, will be launched tomorrow (Tuesday).

From now on, millions of Israelis with Android devices will be able to leave their wallets at home and pay for purchases in stores without contact within a few seconds.

Google Pay will be available for credit cards issued by the supporting banks: Poalim, Leumi, Discount, Mizrahi Tefahot, International First and Yahav, and also of all credit card companies: Isracard, Cal and MAX.

Google's move comes about six months after Apple, the first major player in Israel, launched its payment service.

To use the service you simply need to download the app from the Google Play Store, and add a credit card from any of the banks and credit card companies that support the app.

To pay in stores, unlock the phone screen and place it near the terminal, without opening the app.

"The launch of Google Pay is a significant news for Israeli consumers, and as of today, the vast majority of them will be able to enjoy secure and fast purchases in Israel and around the world," said Barak Regev, CEO of Google Israel. Implement the service for their customers. "

What about security?

The actual number of credit cards or debit cards added are never stored on the mobile device or transferred to any business.

Transactions made using Google Pay use a virtual card number called a token, which is device specific.

The token is associated with a dynamic security code that changes with each transaction.

Also, if the smartphone device is lost or stolen, users can simply use the "Find My Device" function to instantly lock their device from anywhere, secure it with a new password, or even delete it from their personal information.

There is no need to cancel the card itself, as its data is not stored in the device.
