The number of

corona deaths

reported within one day

has reached the highest level since February.

The health authorities transmitted

527 cases

of people who died of or with corona

to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within 24 hours

, according to RKI figures from Wednesday morning.

At the moment, the number of corona deaths transmitted daily is still significantly smaller than at the height of the second corona wave at the end of last year - even though there are currently significantly more infections than back then.

Experts attribute this to the positive effect of vaccination, which provides effective protection against serious disease.

The

RKI gave the

seven-day incidence

as

427

.

For comparison: the previous day the value was 432.2 - however, there were technical difficulties in transmitting the figures from Saxony.

A week ago the nationwide incidence was 442.9 (previous month: 201.1).

The health authorities in Germany reported

69,601 new corona infections to

the RKI within one day

.

This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:28 a.m.

Exactly one week ago there were 67,186 infections.

When evaluating the infection rate, it should be borne in mind that experts are currently assuming a noticeable underreporting.

Health authorities and clinics can no longer keep up with reporting cases, at least in individual regions.

The RKI has counted 6,291,621 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

The number of

corona patients admitted

to clinics

per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Tuesday at

5.45

(Monday: 5.32).

According to the RKI, the number of people recovered on Wednesday was 5,225,700.

The number of people who died with or with a proven Sars-CoV-2 infection rose to 104,047.
