According to the RKI, the number of infections in Germany has fallen slightly again. However, Lower Saxony did not report any cases over the weekend. Experts also assume otherwise under-reporting.

The nationwide seven-day incidence has decreased compared to the previous day, according to official figures. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Monday morning as 389.2. A week ago the nationwide incidence still reached a value of 441.9. However, the RKI pointed out that due to technical problems on Saturday and Sunday no data was transmitted from Lower Saxony.

Without Lower Saxony, the RKI was last reported 21,743 new corona infections within one day (status of the RKI dashboard from eleven o'clock).

A week ago - with figures from Lower Saxony - there were still 27,836 infections.

However, experts are currently assuming a noticeable underreporting.

Health authorities and clinics can no longer keep up with reporting cases in individual regions.

According to the RKI, Saxony and Thuringia have the highest incidences.

Over the past seven days, more than 1,000 infections per 100,000 residents have been documented there.

In Saxony-Anhalt, the seven-day incidence is more than 800.

Almost 4900 Covid sufferers in the intensive care units

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Friday as 5.71.

According to the German Intensive Care Register (Divi), almost 4900 people with Covid-19 disease received intensive care on Sunday in Germany.

The number has risen sharply since mid-October, and in the past few days it seems to have stagnated at a high level.

The effects of the current wave can also be seen in the number of people who have died.

According to the latest information, 116 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours in people who were verifiably infected with Sars-CoV-2.

A week ago there were 81 deaths.

The RKI has counted 6,531,606 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

Officially, 5,435,700 have now survived a corona infection in Germany and are therefore considered to have recovered.

The number of people who died in Germany with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 is now 105,754.
