Up to 9,570 euros subsidy: e-car bonus is being extended

E-car buyers will receive a bonus until the end of 2022.

If you want to buy an electric car soon, you can still take your time with the decision.
The currently generous grants will also be granted in full in 2022.
The
innovation bonus for electric cars * and plug-in hybrids
, which was
increased in 2020 and initially limited to 31 December 2021, will be extended
under the new traffic light government.
Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck confirmed today that the current level of funding
will be maintained until the end of 2022
.
Accordingly, buyers of a purely
electrically powered car can
still
plan
a
subsidy of up to 9,570 euros
.
The purchase of
plug-in hybrids will continue to be
funded
with up to 6,750 euros
.
After the guideline has been published in the Federal Gazette, it will officially come into force on January 1, 2022.

E-car bonus: Changes to grants planned from 2023
For the period after December 31, 2022, the coalition government wants to work out a new regulation in the coming year that provides for the promotion of cars with a demonstrably “
positive climate protection effect
”.
The changes are intended to strengthen climate protection; the extent to which this affects funding contributions from BEVs and PHEVs remains to be seen.
