The Israel Philharmonic hosted the spirit of Walt Disney for an evening dedicated to the film "Fantasy" with a live and exciting concert.

Ignoring some petty trifles, this is one of the most enjoyable evenings I have experienced with the Philharmonic at the Hall of Culture for years.

A show that is all about innocence, beauty and musical joy

In a rather rare local collaboration, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra put on a special show with the huge Walt Disney Corporation. Event, as advertised, was named "Fantasy live concert film" aroused great expectations, partly in classical music lovers undersigned almost like he loves cartoons.

First it should be noted that some concert Marketing incorrect, to say the least. This is not the film's screening , But in a few selected excerpts from the original film "Fantasy" from 1940, and its sequel "Fantasy 2000". Only in the Lions' concert performance alone

, not only the nice link clips (which add a lot to watch, not just the kids) were missing from the evening, but also some of the most memorable pieces from the movies,Like the Bachata Tokata and Fuga in B minor or Gershwin's Blue Rhapsody.

Not really "the movie", but enough excerpts to forgive the wrong publicity.

But if you ignore the above petty trifles, this is one of the most enjoyable evenings I have experienced with the Philharmonic at the Hall of Culture for years. A show full of innocence, beauty and musical joy. The Philharmonic was at its peak, And the lovers who were with his predecessor in the role, maestro Zubin Mehta.

I try not to use the word "magical" to describe cultural events, but this time it seems inevitable.

The combination of some of the most beautiful works in human history - including Beethoven's Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Elger's Glory - along with Disney's timeless animation creates a magic that strikes the audience with cynical pleasure.

This is true for the adult audience as well as for the children and grandchildren who accompanied it.

Kindergarten children who were mesmerized by this winning combination were also seen in the stands.

Musicology professors also imagine Mickey Mouse when they hear this symphonic poem.

The climax comes quite naturally in the most memorable excerpt from "Fantasy" films, and the only one that appeared in both the original film and the new version - "The Magician's Apprentice" by the French-Jewish composer Paul Dica. Apparently even professors of musicology can not help but imagine Mickey Mouse when they hear Dika's famous symphonic poem, and rightly so. The eyes do not know whether to look at the big screen that projects the famous piece, or the big orchestra that performs the classical work in an equally perfect way. It remains only to wonder how it is that with all the advanced technology of today, still no cartoon studio manages to recreate the unique charm that the hand-drawn films of 1940 had.

The four shows, to which all tickets were sold out in advance, are perhaps the first swallow out of some attempt by the director of the Second Blade Orchestra to make the old institution accessible to the general public, and perhaps even to a younger audience.

I wish.

On a personal level I can say that watching a live orchestra performs a "fantasy", even in part, is nothing short of a dream come true for me.

The next dream: to hear the "Niblong Ring" in Israel, it will be a little harder for a second blade to fulfill, but if anyone can fulfill that dream, it probably is.

In the meantime, I'll settle for the "Blue Rhapsody" that was forgotten yesterday.

Believe me I am not the only one who came to the concert yesterday who would be happy to see this segment, even without the accompanying animation segment.
