After a minimal increase the day before, the general trend towards declining corona key figures in Germany has continued.

Among other things, the nationwide

seven-day incidence

of new corona infections has fallen again.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Tuesday morning, the value was

306.4

.

The day before it was still at 316, a week ago at 389.2.

As the RKI further announced, citing data from the health authorities,

23,428 new infections were

recorded

within 24 hours

.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the health authorities have reported a total of 6,833,050 cases.

The institute put the number of people recovered from illness caused by the coronavirus in Germany at around 5,866,900.

The total number of

Corona deaths

in Germany rose by

462

to 108,814.

The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

The value rose rapidly from the beginning of November.

As a result, new highs were recorded every day.

The number then fell again at the beginning of December.

On November 18, the federal and state governments set the so-called hospitalization incidence as the decisive yardstick for tightening the corona measures.

This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants are in hospital within seven days because of a corona infection.

From a value of three, the 2G rule applies across the board for events in a federal state - that is, only those vaccinated against the coronavirus and those recovered from Covid-19 are allowed.

According to the RKI, the nationwide

hospitalization

incidence

on Monday was

4.73

.

Federal and state governments at crisis meetings

Today, Tuesday, the representatives of the federal and state governments will come together for another top meeting.

According to the will of the federal government, there should also be contact restrictions for vaccinated and convalescent people at the end of the year.

This also and especially applies to New Year's Eve.

From December 28th, a maximum of ten people should generally only be able to take part in private meetings, according to a template from the Federal Chancellery for the meeting available to the AFP news agency.

This should apply both indoors and outdoors.

According to reports, Bundesliga games will take place again without spectators.

In the draft, the federal and state governments are extremely concerned about the spread of the Omikron variant: "In other countries it has been shown that the number of infected people doubles within two to three days, which is an unprecedented rate of spread," it says .

The new virus variant also undermines existing protection against infection.

This could lead to an explosive spread.

The RKI recently revised its risk assessment upwards with a view to Omikron.

Vaccinations are to be promoted

According to the template, the vaccination campaign should also be further intensified.

"The vaccination campaign should continue over Christmas, on the days between Christmas and New Year's Eve and on New Year's Eve," says the paper.

A specific target is mentioned: "The federal and state governments want to achieve a further 30 million vaccinations (booster, first and second vaccinations) by the end of January 2022."
