Covid-19: a Loire-Atlantique cinema closes after a dispute with the gendarmes around the health pass

2021-12-24T08:19:50.123Z

Denouncing untimely and inappropriate police checks, the management of the Emeraude cinema decided on Thursday to close its doors "

"Two interventions" to control health passes, "in less than ten days", by "heavily armed gendarmes" and "in full session" ... It was too much for the cinema L'Émeraude in Châteaubriant (Loire-Atlantique ), which has therefore decided to close its doors until further notice.

In this dispute, the main protagonist of which is the Covid-19 health crisis, the gendarmerie defends itself against any abuse and indicates to our colleagues from France Bleu that certain employees of the establishment were not in compliance.

"We have chosen to close the cinema until an acceptable situation is restored", indicates the management of L'Émeraude in a message posted prominently on its website.

But for the gendarmes, this acceptable situation depended above all on the presentation of a health pass, which several cinema employees were not able to produce.

The commander of the Châteaubriant company thus denies to France Bleu having intervened during a film and "having been able to traumatize a part (of) spectators" as denounced by the direction of the cinema.

He explains that during a check on December 12, some employees are pinned for not having a health pass.

Three days later, the gendarmes returned "but again, several employees were fined" for the same reasons.

As in any establishment open to the public, all employees have the obligation to be vaccinated and to produce a health pass.

Failure to comply with this rule, in force since August 30, may result in the administrative closure of the establishment that employs them.

Close its doors or be forced to close… The Emerald cinema seems to have made its choice.
