More than seven years after its launch (which took place in 2014), one of Stellantis' top models, the Jeep Renegade, could debut next year in a revised version in terms of design, engines and above all in the passenger compartment.

The rumors were partially confirmed by a 'preview' with camouflaged specimens that was organized in recent days in Brazil by the local Jeep headquarters, on the occasion of the debut scheduled for January of the new 1.3 turbo flex bi-fuel engine capable of delivering 180 Hp when fueled with petrol and 185 Hp with ethanol.

In Brazil, this model - which holds the leadership of the segment with an 11.63% share - is currently offered, in addition to the 170 HP 2.0 turbodiesel, with the 139 HP 1.8 E.torQ bi-fuel unit. From next year, according to rumors published by the Brazilian media, the 1.8 petrol and 2.0 turbodiesel should give way to the T270 engine only, in the South American market, in the three two-wheel drive variants Sport, Longitude and Limited and in the two 4x4 versions. Trailhawk and S in this case with 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with operating mode selector.

Precisely the specimens that appear in the official 'teaser' photos and in a video shot by the local magazine Quatro Rodas, highlight what could be the aesthetic changes also present in the European Renegade. Even when covered by the 'optical' adhesive film, the front bumper appears more prominent and perhaps strengthened. The headlights remain round but have been redesigned at the top with a sort of cut.

The front grille has also been slightly modified, which has embossed moldings.

In the tail there is a different shape of the tailgate, but that should not change the load volume (320 liters).

Inside, the dashboard will have the same development, but with important improvements in the instrument panel - which will be digital - in the steering wheel (the same one that already equips Compass) and in the infotainment which will adopt the Uconnect 5 multimedia system.

For the moment there are no rumors about what will be the 'base' engine for the European Renegade, certainly different from the Brazilian one.

The most reliable hypothesis is that the 3-cylinder 1.0 and the T4 1.3 are replaced by the 4-cylinder Firefly T5, i.e. the turbo 1.5 already used on other models that share the Small Wide platform, such as Fiat 500X, Alfa Romeo Tonale and Fiat Tipo. .

The new Firefly T5 1.5 is expected to be offered in two levels of 130 and 160 hp and also become the basis for the Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid.

A 48 Volt hybrid version of this unit is also not ruled out, but for the moment it has not yet been decided whether it will be used for the small Jeep.
