A car carrying two men and three children violently struck a tree in Wattrelos (North) on Saturday evening.
This accident caused the death of the driver and two children, also seriously injuring the other two passengers, announced this Sunday the firefighters and the police.
The drama took place around 10:30 p.m. on Boulevard Mendès-France in Wattrelos, in the Lille metropolitan area, says La Voix du Nord.
The vehicle left the road, "hit a tree, and ended its trajectory in a fence," a spokesperson for the North Departmental Public Security Directorate (DDSP) told AFP.
Two children under ten
The report shows "three male victims died, including two children", "one aged between 5 and 6 years, and the other between 7 and 8 years", and "two male victims, including a child" of unspecified age, taken to hospital in serious condition, said the DDSP.
Their identity is not known at this stage.
An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the accident.
France 3 specifies that significant rescue resources were engaged in this accident.
Four teams from the SMUR (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service) as well as around thirty firefighters from the Roubaix, Tourcoing and Marcq-en-Barœul barracks went to the site.
