A study by Ituran on car thefts in 2021, conducted according to a national sample of about 650,000 vehicles, shows that due to the fact that the corona caused a shortage of spare parts, there was a significant 43% increase in car thefts compared to 2020, with the trend continuing in 2022. The
study shows that in 2021, car thieves focused on moving stolen vehicles mainly through breaches in the separation fence from the Palestinian Authority to Ramallah, Qalqilya and Tulkarm, which are located near the center of the country and serve the thieves as shelters for the stolen vehicle.
