After a temporary increase, the nationwide
seven-day incidence of
new corona infections has fallen again.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Tuesday morning, the value was
215.6
.
The day before it was 222.7, which is the first time in days.
A week ago the value was still at 306.4.
According to the RKI,
21,080 new infections
with the
corona virus
were recorded within 24 hours
.
That's 2,348 fewer cases than on Tuesday a week ago, when 23,428 positive tests were reported.
372
other
people died
after a corona infection.
The RKI pointed out that because of the Christmas holidays, fewer people were being tested and not all health authorities were forwarding data.
The actual numbers could therefore be higher.
Since the
beginning of the
pandemic, the health authorities in Germany have
reported 7,026,369 corona infections
.
The total number of corona deaths is 110,805.
The institute put the number of people recovered from illness caused by the coronavirus in Germany at around 6,217,800.
In November, the federal and state governments set the so-called hospitalization incidence as the decisive yardstick for tightening the corona measures.
This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants are in hospital within seven days because of a corona infection.
According to the latest report from Monday, the
nationwide
hospitalization
incidence was
3.26
.
Despite the interim declines in the corona key figures, the government is tightening the regulations - especially with a view to the foreseeable spread of the new Omikron variant.
From Tuesday, the contact restrictions recently decided by the federal and state governments will apply throughout Germany.
Inside and outside, only up to ten vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed to stay together.
With the unvaccinated, the members of a household are only allowed to meet two other people.
Clubs and discos will be closed.
The 2G or 2G plus rule still applies to leisure, culture and retail.
Shops for daily needs are excluded.
In some countries, stricter corona rules had already come into force.
At their summit meeting on December 21, the federal and state governments agreed that the regulations should apply throughout Germany by December 28 at the latest.
In some countries, more extensive rules apply, such as curfew in restaurants.
Constitutional court on triage in hospitals
Today, Tuesday, an important decision by the Federal Constitutional Court on triage in hospitals due to the pandemic will be made in Karlsruhe.
The disabled or chronically ill complainants want to ensure that they are not disadvantaged in the event of scarce places in the intensive care units.
A so-called triage concerns situations in which fewer places or devices are available than necessary for the patient.
Doctors then have to decide which patients will be given a ventilator, for example.
According to the "recommendations" of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, which have so far been relevant, the clinical success prospects are the decisive criterion.
The complainants, on the other hand, demand a statutory regulation.
