The "source" investigation of Yossi Cohen is important not because of what was revealed in it but because of what was not

If there is one thing we learned from the investigation of "The Source", the second part of which was broadcast yesterday (Network 13) was weaker than the first part last week, it is that when it comes to discretion and decision-making, there is no mistake Yossi Cohen will not choose to do

In the video: a promo for the original investigation into the former head of the Mossad, Yossi Cohen (Network 13)

Let's start with the bottom line: Raviv Drucker's "The Source" investigation (network 13) about former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen deserved to be broadcast. In fact, it's an understatement. I wrote this here last week, and this week, precisely after the less powerful half of the research, it is important to say it again. This is not a story about a senior public figure who wandered in foreign fields and allegedly betrayed his wife. I mean, it's yes, but the yellow side of the story is completely marginal. In the end, one thing must be remembered for the entire double plan - Yossi Cohen is a man with dubious judgment, and poor and miserable courses of action. What he has contributed to the country in his decades in the country cannot be taken away from him, and on the other hand, would you agree to buy a used car from such a person?

If it was just an ordinary person it would be fine, when it comes to a person who holds the most hidden state secrets, and will most likely enter the political arena in the future - the public's right to know outweighs any other editorial consideration here. It is not clear how the "News 12" and "Fact" systems gave up on this story. How can a journalist sit on such a story and not investigate it to the end? Moreover, it is even suspicious, and justifies a serious journalistic investigation in itself. As a mythological Hebrew leader once said: "Researchers need to be questioned."

The second half of the investigation did not add to what we already knew about Yossi Cohen, and delved into the story of the dismissal of Guy Shikar, the stewardess' husband who allegedly had sexual intercourse with the former head of the Mossad.

The excellent editing of "The Source" managed to make this patchwork story go down your throat as easily as a good thriller, even though in the end no connection was proven between Yossi Cohen and the dismissal of Shikar.

Moreover, as Drucker himself pointed out, Cohen had no interest in causing Shiker's dismissal - and even vice versa.

Along the way we also learn about another employee who was fired from Psagot, ostensibly because of a relationship - the nature of which is unclear - with Guy Shikar.

Seems briefed.

Liar (Photo: Screenshot, Network 13)

After the long interview with Guy Shikar that stretched over two shows, a surprise came: another interview with Guy Shikar! This time, Guy Shikar arrives at the "Makor" studio and responds to the allegations that arose after the broadcast of the first part last week, including on this site. The interview felt completely filmed. A liar seems to be briefed, as he lightly answers the expected questions, which did not add to the credibility of the research that preceded it. For example, Shikar explains that every married couple has "zeros and downs" to clarify why his ex-wife opened a case in the rabbinate two years before Yossi Cohen entered their lives. In general, it is not in anyone's interest what happened in the couple's relationship lied, but if it is already opened, it is worth noting that not every couple opens a case in the rabbinate following a quarrel.

Shiker explains the decision to expose himself and his children to the story by talking to the school counselor and asking people around him to avoid exposing his children to the story.

Obviously, this is how the world works, and at no point will his children google their dad's name and read how he sat with their mother's lover over whiskey and cigars and joked with him on WhatsApp messages.

Worth broadcasting.

The discussion of Shiker's interest in exposing himself and his family in such a public way is interesting, if at all, only on the gossip level. And anyway, it's not that Drucker stuck a gun to his temple and forced him to be interviewed. This is an older person who has made a conscious decision. He himself rejects any claim to personal interests or revenge, and insists he is simply a patriot who wants to save the country from the possibility that a man like Yossi Cohen will head it. His patriotism, he claims, is also the reason he pushed his young secretary to office in Bangkok as part of his negotiations with the head of the Mossad to end his relationship with his wife. Okay. The Chairman. Legitimate, but seriously, who cares who Guy lied to vote at all? And in any case, it does not matter at all - Guy Shikar is not the story but Yossi Cohen.

The former head of the Mossad is currently on a cooling-off period and cannot run in the Knesset elections.

It is possible that the cooling-off law saved him from greater embarrassment than that which had already been caused to him by the very broadcast of the investigation.

The memory of the Israeli public is short, and it is likely that the findings of the investigation will not cause Cohen's potential voters to shy away from him.

If he nevertheless decides to give up joining politics, it will probably not be because of Drucker's exposure, but because of the "lying guys" who have not yet been exposed.

But if there is one thing we have learned from the investigation of the "source" it is that when it comes to discretion and making sound decisions, there is no mistake that Yossi Cohen will not choose to do.
