The Catfish Challenge in Tiktok

Tiktok has long proven to us that it is far beyond a platform designed to show off shapely bodies or entertain others. He teaches us new things every day and recently also promotes important topics. One of the issues that has been addressed in recent days is the use of Photoshop, filters and makeup to present "perfect" images that are very far from the imperfect reality. Let’s face it - we all add glam to the photos we share online and do filtering until we get to the perfect one we post so it is very comforting to see what people really look like behind the photos and realize that we are not completely alone.

A viral challenge, the Catfish Challenge (#CatfishChallenge), is gaining momentum in ticking and convincing women to reveal their 'true faces', the ones behind their perfect selfies.

Whoever started the trend, intentionally or not, she uses the 22-year-old Australian tiktok @moldogaa whose video has already garnered more than 700,000 likes.

In the video she shows off her flattering selfie and then shows off her face without the makeup and glam.

She says in the video: "I just posted this picture on Snapshot ... I do not look like that! Catchfish - Meow!"

Ticket user Shoni Thompson, who has 113,000 followers, said she was surprised by the attention she received to her video.

She told Bored Panda: "This trend dispels the common myth that everyone looks perfect in their daily lives, revealing their true face - the one behind makeup and editing options. It highlights how far the images are from reality. It's a reminder to all of us that it's important to love ourselves because "Who we are, even in moments when we do not look our best. Feel comfortable in your skin."
