Affordable new cars: five cars for less than 30,000 euros

It was not just the production bottlenecks caused by the chip crisis that made new cars very expensive.

A few inexpensive models will also come onto the market in 2022.

Munich - Large SUVs, electric bolides and prestige sedans are shaping the automotive year 2022. But there are also a few “completely normal” cars.

Five proposals with base prices below 30,000 euros.

Cars with base prices below 30,000 euros: Dacia Jogger

The Dacia Jogger replaces two models, the Lodgy and the MCV.

The Renault subsidiary is featured in almost every list of cheap cars.

At the beginning of next year, Dacia will be launching the Jogger, a family car that is unrivaled in terms of price.

The basic model costs 14,000 euros, and for 1,500 euros more there is a reasonably equipped version with air conditioning, infotainment system and roof rails.

The new compact van with up to seven seats replaces the somewhat staid lodgy and is much more fashionable thanks to its off-road styling.

In addition to a petrol engine (81 kW / 110 PS) and an LPG engine (74 kW / 100 PS), both with a displacement of 1.0 liters, there will be a full hybrid for the drive for the first time.

However, it will probably not be until 2023, as reported by 24auto.de.

Cars with base prices below 30,000 euros: Opel Astra

The Opel Astra is also available in a station wagon version called Sports Tourer.

The compact car has been an integral part of the Opel brand for five generations.

The new edition starting at the beginning of the year carries Stellantis genes under the sheet for the first time, shares the technology with the also new models Peugeot 308 and DS 4, among others provides a major modernization push.

In addition to diesel and gasoline, there are three plug-in hybrids with up to 220 kW / 300 PS and, for the first time, a purely electric version from 2023.

When it comes to bodywork, customers have the choice between a classic five-door hatchback and a station wagon.

It starts at 22,465 euros.

The Wolfsburg-based company has found another gap in their already well-stocked SUV range: from the beginning of the year, the VW Taigo, imported from South America, will attract customers with its coupé rear end for whom the somewhat smaller T-Cross is designed too conventionally.

A one-liter, three-cylinder TSI in the expansion stages with 70 kW / 95 PS and 81 kW / 110 PS and the 1.5-liter TSI with 110 kW / 150 PS are available for the drive.

There will be no electrified variant for the VW Taigo, which is always delivered with front-wheel drive.

The prices start at just under 20,000 euros.

Cars with base prices below 30,000 euros: Toyota Aygo X

The new Toyota Aygo gets the suffix X - and a crossover look.

While most of the competitors are leaving the subcompact class, the Japanese are sticking to their entry-level Aygo.

In the new generation, however, the short five-door model becomes a small crossover.

In a robust style, with a slightly raised seating position and a lot of optional equipment, it not only wants to attract bargain hunters, but also impresses as a high-quality second car or stylish city car.

A 53 kW / 72 PS strong 1.0-liter three-cylinder takes over the drive, an electric drive is not planned.

The prices for the Toyota Aygo X start at 15,400 euros.

With a massive front: the new Kia Sportage stands out.

After six years of construction, the Koreans are renewing their best-selling SUV.

In the new generation, the Kia Sportage (click here for the driving report) appears in a new futurism style on the outside and extensively digitalized on the inside.

Unusual extra in this class: remote parking from the outside.

In addition to diesel and gasoline engines, there is also a plug-in hybrid with an eligible range of 60 kilometers for the drive.

The basic petrol engine (110 kW / 150 PS) with front-wheel drive and six-speed manual gearbox is available from 28,000 euros.

The smallest diesel with 100 kW / 136 PS and front-wheel drive is available for around 2,000 euros more.
