The day of January 1 was marked by three suspected feminicides, one in Maine-et-Loire, one in Meurthe-et-Moselle and one in Nice.
In the latter case, the former companion of the victim was indicted for murder and imprisoned this Monday evening, according to the public prosecutor of Nice.
He himself went to the police station, early Saturday evening, to tell the police that he had quarreled with his ex-wife and that he did not know "in what state" she was.
He had driven the police to a vehicle - that of the couple's eldest son - in the trunk of which was the corpse of the 45-year-old victim.
The chosen premeditation
The 60-year-old man, as well as the eldest of the couple's three children, were taken into custody in the wake.
According to the prosecutor, whose remarks were echoed by France 3, the ex-companion admitted to having strangled the victim after an argument, the circumstances of which "are yet to be established".
"These facts are in any event in the wake of a marital separation that took place during the spring of 2021", said the prosecutor of Nice.

In the indictment, premeditation was retained against the father of the family.
The eldest son has, for his part, been exonerated, specifies BFMTV.
