The book "How to Love Your Daughter" by Hila Blum (published by Kinneret Zmora Dvir) is the winner of the Sapir Prize for Literature of the Lottery for 2021 - so decided today (Sunday) the jury of the Sapir Prize for Literature. Bloom will receive a grant of NIS 150,000 and her book will be translated and published in Arabic and another foreign language of her choice.
In addition, Mifal HaPais will purchase a 500-book edition of the books of the five authors selected as part of the "short list", and will donate them to public libraries throughout the country. Apart from the winner, these are the books "The Tongue Disappears" by Shimon Adaf, "Nobody Leaves the Palo Alto" by Yaniv Itzkovich, "Intermediate Stations" by Boris Seidman
and "Faith" by Dror Mishani.
"Already in the opening lines, there is an inner structure that perhaps defines Bloom's writing: distance and closeness. Darkness and light. Alienation versus intimacy," Udi Ben Saadia wrote in his review of "How to love your daughter" in Walla!
culture.
"A 'camera' that almost desperately tries to break in and stay for a few seconds in the illuminated space, and especially some meditative temperament, which gives its signals and also affects your way of reading and 'breathing' as a reader. That 'temperament' has a prominent and additional element: Bloom's ability "Create a degree of restraint all the time. Stop all the time for one second before the emotion that revolves there slips and bursts out."
