Beware of Fraud!
Speedometer manipulation is particularly common in these used vehicles

A large used car with few kilometers?
The alarm bells should ring, because the odometer reading may be falsified.
One brand in particular is affected.
Vilnius (Lithuania) - A lavishly equipped 7 Series BMW from 2010 at a bargain price and not even 80,000 kilometers driven - the heart of the luxury vehicle lover who is looking for a lot of comfort for little money laughs.
The low mileage is easy to explain: the manager uses a vehicle like this to get to the airport, long-haul journeys are rare.

Beware of Fraud!
Speedometer manipulation is particularly common in these used vehicles
Or is it completely different?
Did the limousine eat up kilometers without end, with wear-inducing everyday commuting and on endless stretches of the autobahn?
Then the seller, or another previous owner, would have illegally manipulated the mileage.
Nowadays this is not as easy as it was in the years when a drill on the speedometer cable did it - but with the right electronic equipment for professionals, it is not really a problem either.
(Used cars scarce and expensive - is the lack of chips already showing through?)
Beware of Fraud!
In one model, almost 34 percent of the used ones are affected
And certainly not infrequently, as the service provider CarVertical has found.
The Lithuanian company specializes in checking information on the history of used cars around the world on behalf of customers.
An evaluation of the specified and actual odometer readings came to a sobering result: especially with second-hand cars of the upper or upper middle class and SUVs, the mileage was often rotated, as reported by 24auto.de *.
Better to have it checked again: odometer reading for used vehicles.

And, according to CarVertical, these are the ten models with the most manipulations:
Used car model | Share of vehicles with manipulated mileage |
---|---|
BMW M5 | 33.6% |
BMW 7 Series | 33.4% |
Subaru outback | 31.8% |
BMW 6 Series | 31.7% |
Audi A8 | 31.4% |
VW Phaeton | 31.0% |
BMW X5 | 26.7% |
BMW 5 Series | 26.0% |
Ford Mustang | 25.9% |
Audi A7 | 25.8% |
Of course, the susceptibility of the BMW brand to speedometer manipulation, which CarVertical claims to have established, is eye-catching.
Most manipulated used cars are at least ten years old.
Logically, it also mainly affects cars with diesel engines: Anyone who comes across a specimen with low mileage here should be suspicious thanks to their common sense.
