Terrible murder:

Joshua Spelman, a 36-year-old man shot to death by his good friend Andrew Dixon following an argument over a valuable object in the game "Diablo 2".

Quarrels between gamers who take their game a little too seriously are routine.

Thankfully, we too have often thrown bottles at our partners in a stormy multiplayer session.

But the next horrific case completely takes things out of proportion and is not funny at all.

Andrew Dixon, a 34-year-old gamer from the town of Amboy in Washington state, USA, was shot dead by his 36-year-old neighbor and best friend, Joshua Spelman, whom he had known for 26 years. The motive for the murder: Of "Diablo 2".

The two, who live in nearby buildings, collaborated on Activision-Blizzard's successful role-playing game and communicated with each other using a microphone and headphones.

At one point in the game another player joined the session and managed to steal a pair of friends a valuable virtual item.

As a result, Dixon lost his temper.

He started cursing and screaming at Spelman, claiming that the latter did not take care to protect the game with a password and thus prevent unwanted participants from joining the session.

In response, Spelman threatened Dixon and told him that if he did not calm down - he would kill him.

As Dixon continued to scream for several minutes, Spelman lost his temper, grabbed his magnum gun that was lying next to the computer, walked to Dixon's house and fired into the air.

The two met inside the house and confronted, all in front of Dixon's father.

The winds heated up, and Spelman fired again - this time at Dixon's upper body, which was badly injured and then died at the hospital.

When officers asked Spelman why he was holding a gun near his computer, he replied "why not?".

Spelman is currently in custody and will stand trial for murder.
